Based in Indianapolis, we have a deep understanding of audit requirements, federal and state taxes, Indiana political subdivisions, local economies, and regulatory structure.

Principal Functions

The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for preparing, overseeing, and assisting the staff in the preparation of various reports and / or documents associated with the preparation of any attest engagements as defined by the AICPA, corporate and individual income tax returns, and any other financial matters that arise.

Duties include, but are not limited to the following

  • Knows and understands the firm’s policies and procedures
  • Assumes responsibility for efficiently supervising both audit and non-audit engagements
  • Assumes responsibility for the supervision of tax return preparation engagements
  • Manages client projects without management supervision
  • Reviews and oversees work projects with staff
  • Responds to questions and inquiries from clients, as necessary
  • Prepares various reports associated with issuance municipal debt, as necessary
  • Prepares various reports and documents associated with economic development, as necessary
  • Structures debt financing for municipal clients, as necessary

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervises Staff Accountants working on client assignments. Employee carries our supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the firm’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; scheduling and approving time worked; appraising performance; recommending rewards and discipline for supervised employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and / or experience

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) from a four-year college in accounting, finance, or other related field.  Minimum of two years’ related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is desired. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Registered Municipal Advisor certification is desired. Previous experience working in an accounting firm is desired.

Pay is commensurate with education and experience.
